This Privacy Policy explains how Adaptels Pte. Ltd. ("Adaptels", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal data when you use TuitionLah.com ("the Platform"). This policy is in compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 ("PDPA") of Singapore.
By registering for an account or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Privacy Policy.

3. Purpose of Data Collection
We collect and use your personal data for the following purposes:
- Tuition matching: Displaying tutor profiles and student requests on the Platform to facilitate connections between tutors and parents/students.
- Contact facilitation:Enabling registered users to view each other's WhatsApp numbers for the purpose of arranging tuition.
- Account management: Creating and managing your account, verifying your identity via email.
- Platform improvement:Analysing usage patterns to improve the Platform's features and user experience.
- Communications: Sending you platform-related updates, notifications, and service announcements.
- Advertising: Displaying relevant advertisements via Google AdSense.
- Legal compliance: Complying with applicable laws and regulations.
As TuitionLah is a self-service platform, we rely on users to provide accurate and up-to-date information. We do not independently verify tutor qualifications, credentials, or any user-submitted information. Users are encouraged to update their profiles promptly when their information changes. Parents and students should conduct their own due diligence before engaging any tutor.
4. Consent
By registering for an account on TuitionLah, you explicitly consent to:
- The collection and processing of your personal data as described in this Privacy Policy.
- Your WhatsApp number being visible to other registered and logged-in users of the Platform for the purpose of tuition matching.
- Your profile information being publicly displayed on the Platform.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account. You may also withdraw consent for specific processing activities without deleting your account. For example, you may choose to hide your contact information from other users while keeping your profile visible, or opt out of marketing communications. To exercise granular consent options, please contact us at privacy@adaptels.com or adjust your account settings where available.
Please note that withdrawal of consent may affect your ability to use the Platform. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of data processing carried out prior to such withdrawal.
5. Disclosure of Personal Data
Your personal data may be disclosed to:
- Other registered users: Your profile information and WhatsApp number are shared with other logged-in, registered users for the purpose of tuition matching. WhatsApp numbers are masked for non-logged-in visitors.
- Service providers: We use trusted third-party service providers to operate the Platform, including:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting, database (DynamoDB), and authentication (Cognito)
- Google Analytics — website usage analytics
- Google AdSense — advertising (may use cookies for ad personalisation)
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your data if required by law, court order, or government request.
We will not sell your personal data to any third party.
6. Data Retention
- Your personal data is retained for as long as your account remains active.
- Inactive tutor profiles may be archived or removed after 12 months of inactivity.
- Student/parent requests expire after 30 days.
- Upon account deletion, your personal data will be removed from the Platform within 30 days. Some data may be retained in encrypted backups for a limited period as required for system integrity.
- Anonymised and aggregated usage data (which cannot identify you) may be retained indefinitely for analytics and Platform improvement.
7. Data Protection & Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including:
- Data stored securely on AWS infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region, with encryption at rest and in transit.
- Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
- Access controls and authentication required for all data access.
- WhatsApp numbers are masked in public listings (e.g., "9XXX-XX67") and only revealed to registered, logged-in users.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your personal data.
8. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach involving your personal data, we will take the following steps in accordance with Sections 26A–26E of the PDPA:
- Notification to the PDPC: We will notify the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) within 3 calendar days of our assessment that a breach is notifiable. A breach is notifiable if it results in, or is likely to result in, significant harm to affected individuals, or if it affects 500 or more individuals.
- Notification to affected individuals: We will notify affected individuals as soon as practicable, providing details of the breach, the types of personal data involved, and the steps we are taking to address the breach and mitigate potential harm.
- Containment and remediation: We will take immediate steps to contain the breach, assess its scope and impact, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
We maintain internal data breach management procedures to ensure timely detection, assessment, and response to potential data breaches. If you believe there has been a breach of your personal data, please report it to us immediately at privacy@adaptels.com.
9. Your Rights Under the PDPA
Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore, you have the right to:
- Access — Request access to your personal data that we hold.
- Correction — Request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Withdrawal of consent — Withdraw your consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal data at any time.
- Deletion — Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
- Data portability — Request a copy of your personal data in a commonly used format.

10. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
The Platform uses the following cookies and tracking technologies:
- Essential cookies: Required for authentication and core Platform functionality (e.g., session management, login state).
- Google Analytics: Collects anonymised usage data to help us understand how users interact with the Platform.
- Google AdSense: May use cookies for advertising personalisation. You can manage your ad preferences via Google Ads Settings.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect your ability to use the Platform.
11. Email Communications
We may send you the following types of email communications:
- Transactional emails: Account verification, password resets, and security alerts. These are necessary for account operation and cannot be opted out of.
- Service notifications: Updates about your listings, new tuition requests matching your profile, and platform announcements. You may opt out of non-essential service notifications.
- Marketing communications: Promotions or surveys related to the Platform. These are only sent with your explicit consent and will include a clear, functional unsubscribe link.
All commercial emails will identify Adaptels Pte. Ltd. as the sender and include a valid contact address, in compliance with the Spam Control Act 2007. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, and we will process your request within 10 business days.
12. Children's Data
TuitionLah accounts may only be created by individuals aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly allow children under 18 to create accounts or directly collect personal data from children.
However, we recognise that parents and guardians may provide information about their children when posting tuition requests (such as the child's education level, gender, subject needs, and preferred location). This information is collected with the parent's or guardian's consent as the child's legal representative, and we treat it as the child's personal data with the following safeguards:
- We collect only the minimum information necessary to facilitate tuition matching (education level, subject, and general location).
- Children's names are not required in tuition requests.
- Tuition requests containing children's information expire after 30 days.
- Children's data is used solely for the purpose of tuition matching and is subject to the same protection measures as all personal data described in this Privacy Policy.
- Parents and guardians may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their children's data at any time by contacting us at privacy@adaptels.com.
In accordance with the PDPC's Advisory Guidelines on Children's Personal Data in the Digital Environment (March 2024), we regard the parent or guardian posting the tuition request as providing consent on behalf of their child.
If you believe a child under 18 has created an account without parental consent, please contact us at privacy@adaptels.com and we will take steps to remove such data.
13. International Data Transfers
Your personal data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers in the Asia-Pacific (Singapore) region (ap-southeast-1). Some third-party services we use may process data outside of Singapore:
- Google Analytics and Google AdSense:Google LLC processes data in data centres globally. Google's data processing terms include Standard Contractual Clauses and Google has certified under applicable data protection frameworks.
Where your personal data is transferred outside of Singapore, we ensure that the recipient provides a comparable standard of protection through contractual obligations, or by relying on your consent to such transfer as provided when you registered for an account, in accordance with Section 26 of the PDPA.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
